All Commuters With RapidKL Cards Must Change Them By 15 July. Here's What You Need To Know
The MyRapid Card migration period begins on 15 June.
MyRapid cardholders will need to change their existing cards to the new MyRapid Touch 'N Go card soon
Rapid KL recently announced that it will be implementing a migration exercise to upgrade the current MyRapid cards to the new one so that users may enjoy a better experience as they travel from one place to another.
The migration exercise begins on 15 June 2017 and will last until 15 July 2017.
The existing MyRapid cards, including the MyRapid Concession cardholders such as senior citizen, disabled (OKU), and students cards, will not be valid on all Rapid KL rail and bus services from 16 July 2017.
How do the new MyRapid Touch 'N Go cards work?
Basically, Rapid KL's ticketing system has been upgraded to the Touch 'N Go platform.
This means that commuters will be able to travel seamlessly and just use the new MyRapid Touch 'N Go card to access all Rapid KL rail (LRT, Monorail, and MRT) and bus services.
The new MyRapid Touch 'N Go card offers the same function as the regular Touch 'N Go card.
Here are some important things that you should take note of:
Cardholders need not pay any fee for the migration as it is free and all the balance in the current MyRapid card will be transferred to the new card. However, the minimum amount to be transferred is RM5. Cardholders are required to reload the amount required to transfer the value to the new MyRapid Touch 'N Go card.
2. Who must migrate their cards?
All MyRapid cardholders and MyRapid Concession cardholders such as senior citizen, disabled (OKU), and students cards are required to migrate their cards to the new one.
No documents are required to migrate your MyRapid Concession card. You only need to bring your existing MyRapid Concession card to the counter to change it.
4. Where can I change the card?
For the MyRapid card, migration can be done at all Rapid KL Customer Service Counters at the LRT (except at Abdullah Hukum LRT Station), Monorail, and BRT stations. The Rapid KL bus hubs such as Lebuh Pudu Bus Hub will not carry any migration exercise and migration of your MyRapid card cannot be done at MRT stations.
For MyRapid Concession cards, migration can only be done at the Rapid KL Concession Counter at the Pasar Seni Bus Hub.
5. Is there any extra charge for reloading Touch 'N Go cards?
Any existing Touch 'N Go card and the new MyRapid Touch 'N Go card can be reloaded at all Rapid KL Customer Service Counters at the LRT (except at Abdullah Hukum LRT Station), Monorail, and BRT stations. However, a RM0.50 reload fee will be charged for each reload (minimum amount is RM10.00 at the counters).
Commuters may also purchase the new MyRapid Touch 'N Go card during the migration period
According to Rapid KL, the cards will be available for sale at selected stations during the migration period. Each card will cost RM15.00 and it comes with a preloaded RM9.50 stored value.
Those who are interested may purchase the new MyRapid Touch 'N Go card at all LRT, Monorail, and BRT station from 16 July 2017.
