[VIDEO] Fans Boo Rosmah At Malaysian Open's Prize-Giving Ceremony
The guest of honour was about to present the prizes when the booing started.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, was booed by some of the 10,000 spectators at Stadium Malawati during the Malaysian Open prize-giving ceremony yesterday, 10 April
As Malaysia celebrated top national shuttler Datuk Lee Chong Wei's victory over world number one Chen Long, Rosmah stole the limelight momentarily from the 11-time Malaysian Open champion, as a group of fans starting booing when Rosmah’s name was announced for the prize-giving ceremony.
However, the booing was quickly drowned out by the applause for Lee and Chen during the prize-giving ceremony.
Rosmah appeared unaffected by it, and went up to the stage while clapping.
Rosmah, who is also the patron of the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM), still presented the prizes to the winners despite the hostile reaction from certain fans
The brief incident was caught on camera by several spectators in the stadium and viewers at home.
The videos have been circulating on the Internet since they were uploaded to social media yesterday evening.
According to Malaysiakini, one of the uploaders is known as Jay Jay Dennis. He is DAP Klang MP Charles Santiago's aide, who managed to record the incident through live television.
