Selangor State Assembly To Be Dissolved On 23 June

The 14th Selangor state legislative will be dissolved effective Friday, 23 June to pave the way for the 15th Selangor state elections

The announcement was made today, 19 June by Selangor Menteri Besar (MB) Amirudin Shari.

He shared that the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, has consented to the dissolution of the state legislative assembly, after signing the proclamation of the dissolution at the palace.

Following the dissolution of the Selangor assembly, the Election Commission will announce the date for the state elections to be held, which is likely to be held before 26 August.

Selangor is among six states holding their elections this year

The others are Negeri Sembilan, Penang, Kelantan, Kedah, and Terengganu.

Of the six states, Selangor, Penang, and Negeri Sembilan are under Pakatan Harapan (PH), while Kelantan, Kedah, and Terengganu are under Perikatan Nasional (PN).

Penang will dissolve its state assembly on 28 June, and Negeri Sembilan will do the same on 30 June.

Kelantan and Kedah have announced they will dissolve their state assemblies on 22 June and 28 June, respectively.

Terengganu, on the other hand, has yet to announce its dissolution date.
