Honest Workers Go Through Bags Of Garbage To Return RM2,000 A Makcik Lost
Their honest act has earned them a good name from netizens.
Honesty is a rare trait to find among people these days.
That's why when you come across such people, like these solid management workers in Baling, they should be praised.
A group of workers at a solid waste management company in Baling have earned a good name for their honest and noble act on Tuesday.
The workers returned more than RM2,000 in cash, which they found in a garbage bag, to its rightful owner, reported NST Online.
The nine workers of Environmental Idaman Sdn Bhd (E-Idaman) were hired to carry out cleaning works at a house belonging to an elderly woman who lives alone in Kupang by one of her kids
Her son, who lives in Kuala Lumpur, had contacted the E-Idaman company so the garbage bags and recycled materials at the house compound could be cleared.
He was concerned that the pile of garbage would do harm to his mother's health and safety, NST Online reported, quoting Baling E-Idaman Unit Chief Shazwan Shahbudin.
Shazwan said that they understood that the woman, in her 60s, had a habit of collecting discarded and recycled items from the town and bringing them home.
When the pile of garbage was being loaded into the lorry, the woman said that her money, kept in a plastic bag was missing
While the workers inspected the garbage, they could not find the money.
However, upon returning to the garbage collection centre in Pulai, they felt that they had to help the woman. So they decided to check each of the garbage bags.
"After much tedious labour, they finally found the cash in a plastic bag covered with mud. They counted the cash, which totalled to RM2,379.80, and subsequently returned the money to the woman yesterday evening," Shazwan said, adding that he is extremely proud of the workers for their honesty.
