The newborn was found in a pink of health inside a box in the drain in Jalan Jinjang Selatan Tambahan by a 16-year-old near his house

Sentul Police District chief ACP R. Munusamy said the newborn was found in a drain about 10 metres away from the teenager's house at 10.58am.

Munusamy said the newborn baby is currently being admitted in the intensive care unit at Selayang Hospital.

It was, in fact, the 16-year-old's dog who led him to the location of the baby. Following which, the teenager alerted called the police.

"The teenager heard his dog barking. Curious, he went out of the house but found nothing suspicious. But the dog kept on barking and later led the teenager to a drain some 10 metres away from the house where he found the baby, crying," he said.

The police are investigating the case under Section 317 of the Penal Code for baby abandoning. In the meantime, ACP Munusamy also requested the public with information to contact the nearest police station or call at 03-40400781/782 to help in the investigation.
