Student Breaks Down In Tears After Friends Gather RM1,600 To Buy Him A Laptop For Uni
The group of friends knew he had recently lost his wallet and wanted to surprise him.
A Malaysian student was recently moved to tears when his group of friends pooled a total of RM1,600 to gift him a laptop as a farewell gift for university
Sharing the touching moment on TikTok, one of the friends, Farhan Azman, said 20-year-old Mohamad Nazrul Kamaruddin had just been accepted to study at Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA).
He added that although Nazrul comes from a difficult background, he has always helped his friends in need.
To celebrate his acceptance and to show their appreciation for him, especially after learning that Nazrul also lost his wallet last week, Farhan and 19 of their closest friends decided to gather some money to buy him a gift for university.
The TikTok video shows the group of friends giving the gift to Nazrul while they were all catching up over tea outside
"You're always helping people, and we remember every little thing," said a grateful friend as they pulled out the laptop and handed it to Nazrul, who can be seen wiping away his tears.
Farhan later told Harian Metro in an interview that Nazrul cried for almost half an hour because he was so touched by their gesture.
"We've been friends since 2015, which is when we entered Form One together, and Alhamdulillah, that friendship has remained until now," Farhan shared.
"Seeing that Nazrul got an offer to continue his studies, [we all] agreed to collect some money to buy him a laptop because we knew that he would definitely need it."
In another TikTok video, Farhan also explains that Nazrul had earlier wanted to buy himself a new mobile phone to celebrate his university acceptance, but had unfortunately lost his wallet in the same week.
"We hope that the gift will bring him happiness and that it will be useful for him throughout his studies on campus," Farhan added.
The video has since gone viral, garnering over two million views and 250,000 likes, with touched netizens praising the 20-year-olds for their generosity and good friendship
"I hope for the best for all the gifters and the giftee," said a TikTok user.
"Wah, laptop. That's a big gift. Very useful. I wish many blessings to you kids. Study well," said another.
Meanwhile, another netizen said, "I'm not crying. Tears just came out of my eyes."
