A 16-year-old student in Kedah was allegedly beaten up by his discipline teacher for not tucking in his shirt and being "untidy"
New Straits Times (NST) reported yesterday, 9 February that the incident happened at about 7.40am on Wednesday, 8 February, right as the boy was about to enter his school compound in the morning.
Form Four student, Nahar Danial Aiman Naharudin, claimed that his school's disciplinary teacher punched him on the back of his head and face, kicked his leg and grabbed his neck outside the school gate for not tucking in his shirt.
The incident has been confirmed by Kota Setar district police chief ACP Mohd Rozi Jidin who said that the authorities are currently conducting investigations on the incident.
"The teacher also uttered threats against me. I did not retaliate when struck, fearing I would be expelled," said Danial, as reported by Bernama
Danial had then called his father as his shoulder which broke in October last year, was hurting after the incident.
"The teacher’s assault also left me with an aching head and my parents fetched me home," added Danial, as reported by Bernama on 8 February.
Following the assault, Danial's father, 38-year-old Naharudin Aizan, had lodged a police report on incident, explaining that the discipline teacher's actions are "excessive"
Meanwhile, NST also reported that Danial has since gone through a medical examination on Wednesday afternoon at the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Star.
"The doctor who examined him confirmed that there is swelling on the back of his head due to the incident," said Danial's 37-year-old mother, when speaking to NST, adding that the medical report has been submitted to the Kota Star district police office to aid the investigations.
It was also reported that a spokesperson from the Kedah state education department said that the Kota Star District Education Office will look into setting up a meeting between Danial's parents and the school to discuss the incident
The spokesperson mentioned that the education department will be conducting an internal investigation on the matter.
However, when asked to comment on the matter, Education Minister Mahdzir Khalid has refused to comment on the incident saying that he'll leave the matter to the Kota Setar District Education Office to run investigations on it.
