According to Subang Jaya's free community newspaper, SJ Echo, the woman had hailed a taxi at Taman Datok Hormat in Petaling Jaya and was on her way to work at a supermarket in SS16, Subang Jaya.

It was about 8.45am when she had flagged down a red and white Proton Wira taxi before the assault and robbery.

When they arrived behind Subang Parade, the driver reportedly stopped his vehicle and pulled out a knife and placed it on her ear, telling her to keep quiet.

"I was frightened and he pressed the knife so hard that it cut my ear," the female victim was quoted as saying.

He said the victim who sustained injuries on the right side of her face later sought treatment at a nearby clinic.

Mohammad Azlin said the case was being investigated under Section 394 of the Penal Code for causing hurt during a robbery.
