A 17-year-old girl helping her mother clean a temple near their home was killed when a heavy wooden beam fell on her
According to China Press, the incident occurred at a Chinese temple in Tanjong Sepat, Selangor, around 8pm on Tuesday, 7 April.
At the time, only the teen and her mother were at the temple.
While arranging the lamps on one of the altars, the mother suddenly heard a loud crash.
When she turned around, she saw her daughter pinned beneath a wooden beam estimated to weigh over 1,000kg.

The teenager died from severe injuries, and her body was sent to Banting Hospital for a post-mortem
It is understood that the wooden beam had been installed in 2022, and its centre was believed to have been rotten.
The victim was a Form 5 student who was scheduled to sit her Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations this year.
The victim had only been at the temple for about 15 minutes before the incident occurred, reported Sin Chew Daily.
Her family said the victim's grandfather used to maintain the temple, but after suffering a stroke, the duties were shared among family members.

Kuala Langat district police chief Supt Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi said there were no elements of foul play, and the case has been classified as a sudden death
He added that those with information can contact the nearest police station or reach the Kuala Langat district police headquarters at +603-3187 2222, reported Sinar Harian.
