There's A Serial Lunch Hour Thief Stealing Apple Gadgets From Offices During Lunch Hour
He wears red shoes and is still on the loose.
There's a guy on the loose, who has been stealing Apple products from offices in Malaysia since at least 2013. He apparently likes to wear red shoes and does his job when everyone's out for lunch.
His exploits were revealed when he broke into the office of an event planner company in Ativo Plaza, Sri Damansara, and was captured on its CCTV camera.
A guy called Philip Varges posted a screengrab of the CCTV footage on his Facebook page, purportedly showing the thief who stole from his office on Tuesday.
The thief had stolen 2 iMacs and 2 MacBook Pro in 5 minutes
The suspect was seen casually carrying the iMacs under his arm and the MacBooks in his backpack, according to CCTV footage from an elevator camera.
It's also believed that he had an accomplice elsewhere as the CCTV footage showed he was constantly on his phone during the break-in, reported the Malay Mail Online.
His office was broken into at about 1pm after most of them had gone for lunch.
"The suspect rang our doorbell a few times to check if there was anyone in. He left for a few minutes before returning, and rang the bell again to confirm there was no one in".
The suspect then tampered with the electronic card access system before entering.
However, Philip would later find out that he was not the only victim
Following his Facebook post, which garnered widespread attention from others, many people responded to his post, sharing similar encounters at their offices during lunch hour across the country, showing the same suspect caught in footages.
According to comments posted on Philip's Facebook post, the same guy has been stealing Apple products from offices in Mutiara Damansara, Damansara Perdana, Taman Tun, Batu Caves, Sri Hartamas, Kelana Jaya, Bandar Sri Damansara and even in Johor Bahru since 2013.
And his modus operandi remains the same
He would ring the doorbell of the premises in every case to see if it was occupied.
He wears a pair of red shoes and carries a backpack. Steals mostly Apple products and other electronic devices and walks away casually.
This CCTV capture shows him getting away after robbing an office in Kelana Jaya in March 2015. He stole two laptops from there.
While a police report was lodged, the facebook commenter wrote on Philip's post, "looks like he is still at large. Why is it so difficult for any action to be taken fast?"
Prior to that, he had broken into an office in Batu Caves back in December 2013 and stole a Macbook and handphone. That case was reported to the police, too. But apparently, nothing happened.
The thief and his accomplices still remain on the loose, despite reports were made.
Meanwhile, Petaling Jaya police chief ACP Zani Che Din has also confirmed the incident at Philip's office and said that the police are now investigating the matter.
