[VIDEO] How To Turn A "Dirty" Black Man Into A Chinese Guy
Trust China to do the crazies!
Before you get annoyed by that (clearly) clickbait headline, it wasn't our attempt. It's only a literal interpretation of what a blatantly racist Chinese laundry detergent commercial purports to show.
In the ad, done for Qiaobi laundry detergent, a young Chinese woman doing her laundry is seductively approached by a paint-splattered, dirty looking black man.
As he comes near her, she puts the detergent inside his mouth and shoves his body down into a washing machine for a thorough rinsing.
After the wash is done, a clean Chinese man rises out of the machine.
While racism is not something anyone would expect from a detergent ad, as Shanghaiist reports, it's exactly what the Chinese company has opted for to show their detergent's "cleaning" abilities
As you can see, the young woman is visibly delighted with the results.
The video, as Shanghaiist explains in their report, highlights a big issue and the attitude in the countruy over race and skin colour:
"Thanks to traditional beauty standards valuing white skin, many Chinese people have a well-established phobia of dark skin which unfortunately also breeds racist attitudes towards people of African descent, who are viewed by some as "dirty" simply because of their skin tone."
