A 30-year-old man was caught on video yesterday as he drove his white Honda Civic on the motorcycle lane along the Federal Highway

It is believed that the driver wanted to avoid the traffic jam near Wisma CIMB, Jalan Pantai Baharu.

In the video taken by a motorcyclist using his helmet camera, the car is seen entering into the motorcycle lane and driving along the lane as it approaches a tunnel near the Midvalley Megamall shopping complex.

The driver has since been arrested

In a statement today, 19 March, Kuala Lumpur (KL) traffic investigation and enforcement department chief Sarifudin Mohd Salleh said that they arrested the 30-year-old man at about 6.30pm on Friday.

The man was arrested when he appeared for questioning at the KL traffic police station.

Sarifudin said that they acted on a complaint lodged yesterday and the case is being investigated under Section 42 (1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987 for driving recklessly and dangerously.

"Those with any further information can contact the Jalan Tun HS Lee traffic police station (JSPT) at 03-20719999 or the JSPT KL Hotline at 03-20260267/69 or any nearby police station," he added.
