Woman Slips & Falls To Her Death While Trying To Take A Picture At Tasik Biru

The victim was on a hike around the lake when tragedy struck.

A woman's hike at Tasik Biru in Kangkar Pulai, Johor took a turn for the worst when she slipped and fell to her death while trying to capture the lake's beautiful scenery

The victim was identified as 25-year-old V Aruna who was on a hike with her husband on Tuesday afternoon, 12 April.

Operations Commander Senior Fire Officer II Suraini Adnan from the Skudai Fire and Rescue Station said they received an emergency call at 3.06pm and immediately deployed a team to the location.

"Upon arrival at the location, we found that a woman of Indian descent had fallen from the side of the lake from a height of about 23 metres," he was quoted as saying by Harian Metro.

They found the victim's body around a creek area near the lake's banks.

According to the victim's husband, Aruna was trying to take pictures of the lake's scenery when she slipped

Investigations also confirmed that she slipped and passed away at the scene.

The officer added that the victim's body was handed over to the police for further action and the operation ended at 5.08pm.

It is understood that hiking activities regularly take place around Tasik Biru because of the beautiful view. The location is also considered by many as one of Johor's "hidden gems".

However, the lake, which is next to a quarry, has become a restricted area as there have been a number of drowning incidents there.
