World Water Day 2013: The Shocking Facts
The U.N. estimates that more than one in six people worldwide do not have access to 20-50 liters (5-13 gallons) of safe freshwater a day to ensure their basic needs for drinking, cooking and cleaning. The United Nations General Assembly declared 22 March as World Day for Water in 1993. How much (or little) fresh water is there, really, on planet Earth?
