You Can Receive Your IC Under 45 Minutes From 1 April Onwards, DPM Says
The service is available at 56 out of 231 JPN offices across the country.
Yesterday, 15 March, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced that Malaysians can receive their identity cards (IC) within 45 minutes from 1 April onwards
At the 'Program Turun Padang' event in Kepala Batas, Penang, Zahid launched the 'Mobile Ehsan Sub Hub', which he claimed can complete IC production within 45 minutes.
"Out of the 231 JPN offices in the country, 56 have their own identity card printing machines," Zahid was quoted by Free Malaysia Today.
"This has led to the identity card now being produced within 45 minutes," he added.
Zahid congratulated the National Registration Department (JPN) for effectively shortening the application process for ICs over the years
According to Zahid, the application process for identity cards used to take several months to be completed.
"But now the time had been reduced to one month, and later shortened further to five days," he added.
Previously, every state had its own 'Mobile Ehsan' event, which allows applicants in rural areas to deal with IC-related matters
Despite the improvement, Zahid emphasised that aspects of security features and personal information were not left out
Bernama reported that Zahid said the upgrades are carried out either every year or within a specific period.
"They are carried out to avoid identity card falsification or fraud," Zahid said.
"We do not compromise in terms of the quality and security features of the identity card," he added.
