Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has predicted that Spain will win this year's Fifa World Cup.

Najib, who confessed to be a fan of the England team in the World Cup, predicted Spain would emerge as champions.

The Prime Minister said he was confident that Spain or known as "La Roja" would be able to defend their title gained in the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa based on their excellent performance.

He stated that although he likes the way Brazil plays, Spain has the better record

"My sentimental favourite has always been England but I don’t think they will win. I like Brazil for their style of play but I think the record shows Spain is a formidable team,” he said.

"To be honest with you, I like Brazil style of playing but I think the record shows Spain will win," he said during a conversation after delivering a keynote address at the Invest Malaysia 2014 today.

The conversation was moderated by a former Executive chairman of PricewaterhouseCoopers at a conference recently

The exchange came about after Najib delivered his keynote address, in which he mentioned the World Cup.
