Welson Sim
Swimming: Men

This talented 19-year-old is a true example of how champions never give up; he defied all odds and made Malaysia proud when he set a new national record for 200m freestyle with a time of 1:47:67! His record-breaking feat and qualification in the Olympics' 'A' cut at the 47th Singapore National Age Group Swimming Championships is a truly remarkable moment in Malaysian sports history.

Azizulhasni Awang
Cycling: Men's Keirin

All eyes are on this four-time World Championships medallist! The father of two received the World No. 1 ranking for men's keirin in 2010 and earlier this year, and competing at this year's Rio Olympics in his favourite event gives hope that the Terengganu-born cyclist will achieve his dream of stepping up to the podium.

This multi medal-winning diving team fuels hope for some serious medal collection in Rio this year, given their impressive track record at previous tournaments, from the Glasgow Commonwealth Games to the Incheon Asian Games.

16-year-old Dhabitah is one to look out for this Olympics! This ultra-versatile diver is one of Malaysia's elite athletes and is set to showcase her best in the 10m platform event, as well as the 3m synchronised springboard event with partner Jun Hoong. Sarawakian diving darling Pandalela's bronze medal win at the 2012 London Olympics solidified her reputation as a world-class diver. We're excited to see history repeat itself when she takes on the 10m platform event!

Yan Yee, who started out as a rhythmic gymnast before being honed for her diving skills, and Jun Hoong, will both be participating in the 3m springboard event.

Khairulnizam Mohd Afendy
Sailing: Men's Laser

Khairulnizam clinched his Olympics ticket when he bagged the gold medal in the men's Laser Standard category earlier this year in Abu Dhabi at the Asian Sailing Championships.

The nation's top sailor has overcome major obstacles in his sporting career, but despite all the challenges, he delivers a vital reminder for all of us: It's not always about winning, but about learning from the past and coming back stronger.

Nur Shazrin Mohd Latif

What does it feel like being Malaysia's first female sailor to qualify for the Olympics? Ask this 17-year-old! Shazrin made the cut when she won the silver medal at the Asian Sailing Championships in March this year. We can't wait to see her in action!

Lee Chong Wei
Badminton: Singles

Looks like fourth time's the charm for this legendary shuttler; after participating in the three previous Olympics, Lee Chong Wei is bestowed with the honour of being our flag bearer this year!

Here's hoping his shiny new role in the Malaysian contingent serves as inspiration to clinch that coveted gold medal ;)

Despite qualifying for the Olympics by merit, there were rumours going on that Malaysia's #1 women's singles queen would not make it to Rio due to a leg injury. Sighs of relief ensued when the National Sports Institute confirmed the Penangite was indeed fit for the Olympics!

Badminton: Women's Doubles

The badminton drama continued when this powerful pair narrowly missed the road to the Olympics due to their non-participation at the All England championship and Singapore Open. Proving their worth in the three following major tournaments, this World No. 14 duo is now ready to rock Rio!

Goh V Shem & Tan Wee Kiong
Badminton: Men's Doubles

Sharing the dream of going for gold is the men's doubles team Goh V Shem & Tan Wee Kiong. The pair nabbed their hard-earned ticket to the Olympics when they went up against World No. 17 pair Kien Keat-Boon Heong and made it to the semi-finals of the Premier Super Series tournament.

Badminton: Mixed Doubles

The World No. 10 duo is using their past experience at the London Olympics to improve their game and bounce back better and stronger in a bid to support the national badminton squad's gold goal!

Nauraj Singh Randhawa
Track & Field: Men

The 24-year-old high jumper qualified for the Olympics when he cleared 2.29 meters at the Singapore Open earlier this year, shattering the national record of 2.27 metres like a bawse! Way to go, Nauraj!

Golf

Golf is being reintroduced to the Olympics for the first time since 1904, and we're ecstatic that Malaysia's dream team will be a part of this historic moment! Making the cut for the Olympics when they were shortlisted among the top 60 players by the International Golf Federation, the four golfers will be competing in individual events in the women's and men's categories respectively.

Fatehah Mustapa
Cycling: Women's sprint

The 27-year-old is training hard to make her second Olympics appearance count! The catch? She'll be competing in the sprint event instead of her forte, keirin. On the bright side, she won the gold medal for sprint four years ago at the Asian Championships, being the first Malaysian woman to do so. We know you can do it, Fatehah!

Zaidatul Husniah Zulkifli
Track & Field: Women

Although she'll be contending with some of the world's best, including 2012 Olympic gold medalist Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce from Jamaica, this spirited sprinter keeps it cool by focusing on a simple but powerful goal: To beat her own 100m record of 11.62 seconds.

You probably remember this sharp-shooting trio making headlines when they beat World No. 11 Germany in the Olympics' Final Qualification Tournament. Get set to cheer for the three archers in both the team event as well as individual events in Rio soon!

More celebrations all around from the diving team as Perlis-born Amsyar is set to make his first Olympic appearance in the men's 3m springboard event. Glasgow Commonwealth Games gold medallist Tze Liang joins the line-up by bringing his best moves to the men's 10m platform event.

Johnathan Wong Guanjie
Shooting: Men

The 23-year-old carved a historic moment for the country when he scored Malaysia's first gold medal at the Asia Olympic Qualifying Tournament in India earlier this year. Hailing from Malacca, Johnathan's shooting skills are highly promising and we recommend looking out for him in the 10m air pistol and 50m pistol events soon!

Phee Jinq En & Heidi Gan
Swimming: Women

SEA Games gold medallist Jinq En will be making her Olympics debut in the women's 100m breaststroke event while on the open water swimming front, 27-year-old Heidi will be making her second Olympics appearance thanks to her qualifying timing of 1'57:41.2 in Setubal Bay, Portugal last June.

Mohd Hafifi Mansor
Weightlifting: Men

The Glasgow Commonwealth Games gold medallist added on to the Malaysian pride when he was named for the Rio Olympics in the men's 69kg category, with a personal best of 140kg (snatch) and 181kg (clean and jerk). Wishing Hafifi all the best for his Olympics debut!

Making it to the world's largest sporting event is an amazing feat for any athlete, and we're proud to see these 32 inspiring Malaysians living the dream!
