The world no. 11 pair still couldn't believe that they've made it to the finals
“We still can’t believe that we are in the final. We had dreamed of this but to have actually done it is an amazing feeling.
"We knew we had a chance as the China pair were under as much pressure as we were. We told ourselves that we had to keep focused and minimise our mistakes," Peng Soon told the New Straits Times.
Liu Ying attributed their win to the constant encouragement they gave to each other whenever mistakes were made
“We constantly encouraged each other as we didn’t want to fail having come so far," she said.
Peng Soon-Liu Ying also made history by becoming the first Malaysian mixed doubles pair to reach the Olympic finals since badminton was introduced in the 1992 Barcelona Games
The pair will be facing Indonesia's Tontowi Ahmad-Liliyana Natsir in the finals on 17 August, Wednesday
The match will be broadcasted live from Rio on 17 August, Wednesday at 11.30pm.
Congrats again, Peng Soon and Liu Ying! All the best in the finals! We'll be rooting for both of you! :D
