Enter Harriette Thompson, a 92-year old lady from Charlotte, North Carolina. But Harriette isn't just any ordinary lady, she's also a cancer survivor.
Being the fighter that she is, Harriette decided to take up marathon as a challenge
Last year, Thompson ran the fastest marathon ever by a woman aged 90 or older, finishing in 7 hours and 7 minutes. She beat the old record of 9 hours, 53 minutes. It was a 26.2 (42km) marathon.
Now, at the tender age of 92, she has made her way into the book of records yet again for being the oldest lady to finish a marathon by conquering another 42km!
A 92-year-old cancer survivor entered the record books on Sunday by becoming the oldest woman to finish a marathon. Harriette Thompson of Charlotte, North Carolina, completed Sunday’s Rock ’n’ Roll Marathon in San Diego in 7hr 24min 36sec. She was mobbed by well-wishers as she crossed the finish line.

Will Harriette be back next year to conquer another marathon?
Thompson is not sure if she’ll run again next year. But after last year’s race she was not sure she would run this one either. She added that she enjoys raising money for cancer research and believes the competition has helped keep her healthy.
