Imagine checking your driving licence renewal and catching a live World Cup match on the same app
The government is making this a reality by turning its official administrative application, MyGOV, into a hub for global football.
According to a recent announcement by the Digital Ministry, the app will serve as the official broadcasting platform for the upcoming 2026 World Cup.
Registered users simply need to log in with their MyDigital ID to stream matches directly on their smartphones
While the live streaming feature is not visible on the platform just yet, a system update is expected to roll out closer to the kickoff date on 11 June 2026.
That means fans have less than one week to get their accounts fully set up.
The MyGOV app was originally launched in mid-2025 by the Digital Ministry and GovTech Malaysia to consolidate scattered public features into a single, cohesive user experience
The platform currently accommodates 2.2 million active citizens, offering 51 services across 19 government agencies.
Users can seamlessly access MySejahtera, the Road Transport Department (JPJ) portal, PriceCatcher, and financial aid distributions like Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR).
According to The Star, Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo said the MyGOV app reflects the government's continued efforts to improve how Malaysians access digital services.
