We can expect a similar or something close to that timeline for the USB-C version of the AirPods Pro 2.
According to MacRumors, there is a possibility that the USB-C charging case may be sold separately, similar to the MagSafe AirPods charging case that Apple launched in 2021.
Nothing is confirmed yet, as of now.
According to The Verge, this rule doesn't apply to the standard AirPods, as they appear to have no plans to implement a USB-C port to the AirPods 2 and 3.
