Apple Accidentally Leaks The iPad Air 2 And iPad Mini 3 Photos Ahead Of Event
Apple tries very hard to keep its big announcements secret. But the latest culprit responsible for ruining one of the tech giant's surprises is, well, Apple itself.
With images of the iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 appearing in screenshots for an iPad user guide, Apple accidentally gave everyone a sneak peek at the new iPads it's expected to unveil tonight
After months of speculation and rumors, Apple just released details about the iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3. Unintentionally. A day early. Someone is getting fired over this. The devices were supposed to be announced at an Apple event tomorrow, but Apple scoops mcgee Mark Gurman noticed the two devices listed in the iPad User Guide for iOS 8 within iBooks. Whoops.
techcrunch.comAccording to the iBook, the upcoming devices will sport a Touch ID and Burst Mode. They look identical to their current form.
The images, which were first spotted by 9to5Mac's Mark Gurman, are screenshots taken from Apple's iPad User Guide, available in its iBooks app. The screenshots confirm both new iPads, which won't be formally announced until tomorrow, will be equipped with Apple's Touch ID.
mashable.comThe tablets' cameras will also be improved and include Burst Mode, which allows users to take a series of photos at once. As Gurman notes, the existence of a user guide for the new tablets suggests that Apple will also be launching alongside Apple Pay, reported to be included with iOS 8.1, at its event in Cupertino tomorrow.
mashable.comSo how did these images get leaked early?
It looks like Apple was in the process of updating its description for the iPad User Guide for iOS 8 with new screenshots representing the new iPad devices, along with iOS 8.1. Somehow, that updated description was pushed out the the iBooks storefront. At the time of this writing, the iPad version of the iOS 8 guide is no longer accessible. Presumably it will return to the store, without the screenshots referencing new devices.
mashable.comStrangely, this leak was discovered just minutes after Google's big Nexus and Android 5.0 announcement. Coincidence? Maybe. But, as TechCrunch notes, Apple generally doesn't do coincidences.
It's a bit strange that this Apple leak was found just minutes after Google announced its latest and greatest.... http://t.co/XKGUUuKLqf
