YouTube scientist 'Brasspup' has revealed how to modify a LCD monitor and a pair of 3D glasses so that only the wearer of the glass can see what is on their computer screen.

The secret of why the screen appears blank and white to people who are not wearing the glasses lies in the selective use of polarising filter.

Brusspup, the illusions wizard on YouTube who specialises in optical illusions, basically stripped the polarizing filter that comes standard on top of any monitor to make the content that appears on the screen invisible (or rather, unreadable).

The modifications to both the LCD monitor and the 3D glasses allow the wearer of the spectacles to be the only person to see what is really there on the screen

To make the screen readable, Brusspup then made special glasses with the same polarizing filter to decipher the blankness. That way, whatever's on the screen is made for your eyes only.

So, in order to make the modifications, here's what you will need:

Brusspup said individuals will need an old LCD monitor, a piece of polarising filter, a pair of 3D glasses, scissors, a prying tool and a craft knife.

First open and remove the LCD monitor casing. Then cut carefully around the side of the screen and pull the polarising filter off it in pieces.

Then trace the shape of the 3D glasses lenses in polarising filter. It is this filter that allows the wearer of the spectacles to see the stripped screen

After the polarising film has been removed from the functioning monitor, it appears white to anyone not wearing the polarised glasses
