You Can Now Download Reels On Instagram. Here's How
This applies to all public Reels.
Now, everybody can download reels to their phone gallery
Mosseri mentioned on his Instagram channel that the downloaded Reels will include an Instagram watermark featuring the account name, similar to what you see on TikTok.
Before this update, you could only save Reels in the Instagram app itself for later viewing.
The downloading feature was actually rolled out in June for United States users. After much testing, it has now been rolled out to all users globally.
Here's how you can download Reels to your phone
All you need to do is tap on the 'Share' button and select the 'Download' option. It's that simple.
If you're downloading a Reel with licensed audio, it will be removed from the Reel. Only Reels with original audio tracks are able to be downloaded with sound.
You can also disable the option of allowing others to download your Reels.
1. Go to Settings
2. Tap on Privacy
3. Select Reels and Remix
4. Toggle off the "Allow people to download your Reels" option
