If you're away from home and in need for Wi-Fi, Facebook wants to help you out!

The social media giant has rolled out a new, nifty feature that allows you to search for places that have free or public internet based on your location.

Initially made available to selected countries, the company announced on 30 June that the feature has been released to Facebook users worldwide.

"Today we’re beginning to roll out Find Wi-Fi everywhere in the world on iPhone and Android. We launched Find Wi-Fi in a handful of countries last year and found it’s not only helpful for people who are travelling or on-the-go, but especially useful in areas where cellular data is scarce," Facebook wrote in a blog post.

In order to use the feature, you need access to data. To view available Wi-Fi hotspots in your area, tap the "More" tab in the Facebook app and scroll down to "Find Wi-Fi."

You'll need to allow the Facebook app to access your location in order to use the feature.

When activated, a map will pop up an the feature will show which locations near you offer free Wi-Fi along with those locations' business hours and network names

The feature works by using information that businesses have added to their business pages, so it’s not going to pull up every business near you that might have Wi-Fi available, just those that are on Facebook.
