Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) has officially rolled out the web version of Kamus Dewan Perdana

The 10 April launch followed extensive testing since 2025 to ensure the digital dictionary was ready for public use.

The portal provides access to word definitions, usage examples, and Jawi spellings.

Each entry now has a unique identification number, making search results more organised for anyone trying to refine their Bahasa Melayu.

Search results are categorised into specific groups, including root entries, derivatives, and etymology

To keep a pulse on the cultural conversation, the website also displays daily statistics highlighting words currently trending across Malaysia.

According to Amanz, the site is free to use during its launch phase, but this access is only for a limited time.

DBP plans to introduce a subscription model in the future, though official pricing details have not been disclosed.

There are further plans to enhance the platform by gradually including content from other dictionaries

This initiative suggests a move towards a more robust digital ecosystem for the national language, serving as a primary resource for students and professionals alike.

However, the launch has raised questions regarding the fate of the existing Pusat Rujukan Persuratan Melayu portal.

That website provides similar services for free, including a dedicated feature for users to ask questions about proper word usage.

Visit the new Kamus Dewan Perdana portal here to check your vocabulary or Jawi spelling.
