WATCH: LG Promotes G Flex With a Totally Bizarre Video Ad
LG's first curved phone, the G Flex, is out, and the company wants you to know it's the "most human phone ever." Apparently, the best way to do that is with a very odd ad, with facial hair and other body parts making an appearance in unsuspected places.
mashable.comLet's get something straight: we like the idea of a "human" phone, but if that means the phone feels like an ear and a beard is growing out of your hand, we may be inclined to pass.

In YouTube personality / video producer Marques Brownlee's hands-on with the device, he checks out the self-healing coating with a number of tests.
theverge.comFirst up is a set of keys, which Brownlee creates some light scratches with. As you'll see in the video, the LG G Flex essentially "heals" the scratches made. It doesn't completely remove them, but apparently makes the marks almost invisible to the naked eye.
latimes.comHe then carves out a deeper scratch using a knife, which "half heals," appearing far less visible than it would on a regular phone.
Brownlee has what seems like a sound theory for why the results weren't perfect, though.
phandroid.comLG's promotional clip was filmed in a controlled temperature environment with the thermostat set to 81 degrees Fahrenheit, and he believes the coating isn't as effective in cooler climates.
theverge.comWhile it might not work exactly as advertised, LG's new coating looks to be a pretty big step forward for the everyday durability of our phones. Let's hope it comes to models that LG plans on selling outside of Korea sometime soon.

LG has admitted that "bendable and unbreakable" smartphone displays are already in production, and we've heard plenty of rumors about a device known as the G Flex which features the new tech.
engadget.comWe understand that the G Flex, which packs a 6-inch screen, will be released next month but pricing and exact availability are still to be revealed.
thenextweb.comPricing, availability, and the like are still shrouded in mystery, but at least we know that one Korean company is doing a curved smartphone the right way.
theverge.comWhile there's been a lot of talk about flexible displays, it's important to note that neither the Galaxy Round or G-Flex will be able bend or flex. Both phones are permanently stuck in their curved positions.
cnet.comBut LG's version approaches it at a literally different angle from the Galaxy Round that was announced last week that curves from left to right, like this:
