The Maybank2u Mobile App Now Comes With Face And Voice Recognition For Added Security
Maybank is now the first bank in Malaysia to offer three biometric login authentication features on a financial mobile application.
Maybank today launched a facial and voice recognition security authentication service dubbed Face ID and Voice ID for users to unlock the Maybank2u app
The Face ID and Voice ID will enable its customers to access their accounts and check their balances via the app, with any further transactions requiring login with passwords, thus enabling multi-factor authentication.
Together with its fingerprint authentication service launched in 2015, Maybank is now the first bank in Malaysia to offer three biometric login authentication features on a financial mobile app
Its Head of Community Financial Services Malaysia, Datuk Hamirullah Boorhan said a customer’s mobile device must be equipped with a front camera having a minimum graphics resolution of 2.0 megapixels, inclusive of a built-in microphone.
Hamirullah added that the new features will be vital in battling fraud
"Using a tiered approach to security with different access criteria, combining what the customer knows, what he has and where he is, will help to reduce fraud and abuse," he said in a statement today.
It was reported that more one billion mobile transactions would have passed through the Maybank2u system by end of 2017
Given this large traction in mobile transactions, Maybank felt it was necessary to upgrade the customer experience by offering users with speedier and safer access to their accounts.
