Meta, which is fighting against fake news on platforms like Facebook, is now turning its attention to Threads

Head of Instagram Adam Mosseri revealed plans to introduce third-party fact-checkers on Meta's latest platform.

The initiative, slated for early next year, will integrate fact-check ratings from Facebook and Instagram into Threads, although specific details remain undisclosed.

Meta is aware that social media plays a big role in the sharing of information and realises the problems caused by misinformation

The tech giant plans to employ third-party fact-checkers, similar to those on Facebook and Instagram, to flag and review content on Threads.

Repeat offenders will face penalties, emphasising the importance of accurate information for both viewers and sharers.

Meta also plans to let Instagram and Facebook users decide how sensitive the content they see is, and they're going to bring this feature to Threads soon too

Notably, adjustments made on Instagram will reflect on Threads due to their linkage.

Threads, with a user base surpassing 100 million, remains in the process of devising measures against fake posts. Meta's efforts underscore the necessity of verifying factual information amidst the platform's expanding user community.
