M'sian Creates AI Chatbot Called SOH AI To Waste Scammers' Time On WhatsApp
"Every minute a scammer spends talking to SOH AI is a minute they're not scamming someone else. Enjoy!" he said.
A Malaysian entrepreneur has created an AI chatbot designed to waste scammers' time, which people can use for free (and for fun!)
In the Entrepreneurs and Startups in Malaysia Facebook group, Dylan Tan, the co-founder of Replyr, a company specialising in AI-powered chatbots for businesses, introduced his latest side project, cheekily called 'Scammers On Hold' or SOH AI for short.
The bot, he said, aims to keep scammers occupied with endless, nonsensical conversations.
"Every minute a scammer spends talking to SOH AI is a minute they're not scamming someone else. Enjoy!" he said.
Tan said SOH AI works by "giving excuses, digressing, and acting blur", with the goal of frustrating scammers and wasting their time
Moreover, if a scammer stops responding, the bot even follows up to pester them further.
"If a scammer contacts you, or you see an ad for a scam, give them SOH AI's phone number," he advised.
To add to the fun, Tan said the AI chatbot also saves every chat on a publicly accessible leaderboard on Google Sheets, where people can check out chat summaries, tactics used by scammers and the chatbot, and the total time wasted by scammers.
The chatbox is able to reply in English, Malay, and Mandarin, adapting to the language the scammer first texts with
For those eager to put scammers in their place, here's SOH AI's phone number.
Scammers will view the chatbot as 'Madam Soh' on WhatsApp.
Speaking to SAYS, Tan also assured that if scammers start blocking Madam Soh, he'll simply add new numbers — ensuring innocent Malaysians can continue wasting scammers' time, one ridiculous conversation at a time.
