Venture Beat on Sunday posted photos of what it says is a prototype of Samsung's Galaxy Gear smartwatch that was sent to developers. The photos are actually stills from an "internal promotional marketing video" that was created by an independent team working with Samsung

The photos show off the purported smartwatch's OLED display running what appears to be a handful of different apps.
Along with the photos, Venture Beat detailed some specs of the prototype Galaxy Gear that match up with previously reported details.

The Galaxy Gear will likely have a square OLED display, a 4-megapixel camera and will come preloaded with Android.

According to News.com.au, the analysis of the smartwatch indicates that the gadget has limited battery power, which means it can only survive for 10 hours.

Samsung officially is not confirming anything, however SamMobile.com, a website that monitors Samsung devices going to market, claims the new watch, called Galaxy Gear, will debut on September 4

Like Google Glass, the touted new watch is tipped to bring controls such as a power button and menu control to a wearable item – in Samsung’s case to the wristband.

It’s being called the Samsung Galaxy Gear and it will act as a companion device to existing Samsung Galaxy products.

There's also no word on what a Samsung watch would be like (S9110 touchscreen watchphone from 2009 above) so until hardware is actually unveiled, we'll just have to use our imagination.
