Why a Thai Company Is Suing Apple Over Premier League App
Thai broadcaster CTH says it has filed charges against Apple in relation to an app that it claims allows users to illegally watch sports programs that it has the exclusive rights for.
The company argues that Apple approved an unlicensed application for access in its App Store
New TV provider Cable Thai Holding (CTH), which has the Thai broadcasting rights for the English Premier League (EPL), is suing Apple for selling applications through its App Store that enable people to view the matches on mobile devices.
bangkokpost.comThe company is asking for $3 million in damages. CTH is also suing the developer of the app, known as "Sport Channel", in the Criminal Court.

Its regular price is $39.99, but it’s been discounted to $29.99, which might explain how it has caught the spotlight and CTH’s attention. CTH has been unsuccessful with two attempts to reach the developer, and it thus filed criminal and civil lawsuits.
thenextweb.comThe first hearing is set for November 18, but it seems likely that the app will be removed from App Store long before then, presumably ending the issue.
