WhatsApp Cross-Platform Is Planning To Comply With EU Law
But the feature will not support groups or calls for now.
WABetaInfo has reported that WhatsApp is working on cross-platform features to comply with EU law
Now, WhatsApp has revealed some details regarding the way it works.
The initial phase of cross-platform messaging will only support one-on-one messaging, allowing users to send text messages, images, voice and video messages, as well as files.
However, group chats and calls won't be available for now, but are expected to be introduced in the future.
WhatsApp prefers the Signal Protocol
Other messaging platforms that want to join will need to show that their encryption meets WhatsApp's security standards.
WhatsApp users automatically will have cross-platform functionality if it's available. Instead, those interested will have to opt in, and these third-party chats will appear in a separate inbox.
The idea is that you don't need to know which messaging app your friends and family use to reach them. So, you might not know exactly where your messages are coming from.
