Yahoo Has More Traffic than Google in the US

For the first time in more than two years, more Americans visited Yahoo's websites than Google's.

For the first time since 2011, Yahoo overtakes Google to become the number one Web property in the US

Beating Google, Yahoo has come out as the most visited website in the US. For the first time since 2011, Yahoo has got more web traffic than Google.

According to Com Score's monthly report, Yahoo accounted over 196 million unique visits - around four million more than Google clocked in July. Unique site visits were also up 20 per cent for Yahoo since last year.

While Yahoo managed to garner 1,96,564 mn unique views, Google could only pull together 1,92,251 mn unique visitors - followed by Microsoft at 179,595 unique visitors.

...and as a result, Yahoo shares have climbed

Mayer has been pushing Yahoo’s developers and designers to make improvements to the Sunnyvale, California-based company’s products and services since she was hired in July of last year from Google. She revamped the home page, e-mail and weather services with sleeker designs and other improvements. More users will lead to better financial results, she said in July.

Yahoo shares powered higher Thursday after a survey showed the struggling Internet giant topped a survey for US Web visitors for the first time since 2011. In late morning trade, Yahoo was up 2.99 per cent at $27.87.

The report provides a modest victory for Yahoo chief executive Marissa Mayer, who moved from Google a year ago.

But it still trails Google in revenues and advertising

A comScore survey earlier this month on search engines showed Google on top with a commanding 67 per cent market share, followed by Microsoft with 17.9 per cent, and Yahoo in third place with 11.3 per cent.

Also, Yahoo has been ranked number one in comScore's Ad Focus rankings

Yahoo has also been ranked number one in comScore's Ad Focus rankings which are computed on the basis of Internet audience reach. The reach of Yahoo sites was recorded at 87.2 percent out of the total sample size of 225 million Internet users, in July.
