Six years ago, Nabil Ahmad, a small town boy from Mambau, Negeri Sembilan, was working as a dispatch boy. Now - or rather, yesterday - he's rubbing shoulders with Hollywood A-listers at the 89th Academy Awards!

The 33-year-old host and comedian was chosen to represent HBO Asia at the red carpet of the 2017 Oscars, which was held on Sunday, 26 February at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles

Nabil, who is said to have only studied up to SPM level, first stepped into the entertainment industry when he won the 'Raja Lawak' comedy contest in 2008. Since then, he has hosted several variety shows and even acted in films and TV dramas.

Malaysian Digest wrote that he has been working on his English proficiency in recent years and even participated in English stand-up comedy gig.

While he did not get to enter the auditorium, he did get to meet and even interview some of Hollywood's most well-known names like Nicole Kidman, Salma Hayek, Emma Stone, Denzel Washington, and Jackie Chan

He even managed to snag some selfies with TV host Mario Lopez and E! News presenter Jason Kennedy

Congratulations on making it to the Oscars, Nabil!
