Before a crowd of some 20,000, the International Indian Film Academy awards started with the entrance of actors aboard a float built like a pirate ship — a nod to Tampa's love of pirate-themed parties.
The opening musical sequence combined elements of pirates, underwater creatures and football cheerleaders. Other songs were medleys of movie hits, with Cirque du Soleil-type acrobatics.

John Travolta hit the IIFA stage with top Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan to show off his signature Saturday Night Fever moves.

Indian Film "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag" Nabbed Five Of The Top Honours Including Best Picture And Best Director

Besides the awards for best picture and director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, the film won the best actor award for Farhan Akhtar, best supporting actress to Divya Dutta and best story. It also collected a host of technical awards.
