5 People Admitted To Penang Hospital After Drinking 'Durian White Coffee' Instant Mix

Social media has been abuzz with reports of people being sent to the Emergency Department of Penang Hospital after they allegedly drank the Durian White Coffee, which left them severely fatigued

According to a report in Malaysiakini, which quoted Health Minister Dr S Subramaniam, so far five people have been admitted to Penang Hospital after drinking what was being promoted as the durian white coffee mixture.

It was reported that soon after drinking the coffee mix, the men started feeling weak and lethargic. The patients claimed they drank instant coffee before showing the symptoms which warranted them to seek immediate medical treatment.

Penang Health Department director Dr Wan Mansor Hamzah said that they are running tests to determine the cause of the incident

Dr Wan Mansor added that the patients are in stable condition.

Meanwhile, he has advised anyone experiencing the same problem to seek treatment at the nearest hospital immediately.

Speaking on the investigation into the instant coffee mix, Health Minister Dr S Subramaniam said that he expected the result to be out soon and an announcement would be made on the matter

"If it is found that the coffee mixture contains prohibited items, we will announce the brand name and its manufacturer will be ordered to withdraw the product from the market," he was quoted as saying by Malaysiakini.

On the other hand, Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdulah issued a statement on his Facebook page, saying that the Penang Health Department has been ordered to carry out a comprehensive investigation before announcing the outcome
