But it turns out the creature is actually what some call "the hammerhead worm"

This unique species of worms (rightfully called the Bipalium and sometimes the broadhead planarian) is native to several parts of Asia and Australia. They can grow up to be half a metre long.

This isn't the first time they were seen in Malaysia. Though humans don't come across them very often, they are usually found in dark, cool and moist areas such as the grounds of rainforests.

And they are extremely peculiar creatures

They have no skeleton, no respiratory system, no circulatory system and have a mouth that also functions as an anus

When having a meal, the hammerhead worm will tear its prey into several pieces, dissolve it in a bunch of enzymes, and then drink it all up.

It will then excrete out its prey's remains the same way it came in.

If that sound badass to you, that's not all. The hammerhead worm can also regenerate itself. So no matter how many pieces you cut it into, each piece will eventually develop into another fully-functioning worm.

But the good news is that they are of no danger to humans and other large animals

So relax!

Unless you’re an earthworm. These guys love earthworms.
