It's Double And Triple Pay Raise For Our MPs And Senators
The most dramatic increase sees the president of the Dewan Negara and Dewan Rakyat speaker getting RM31,000 a month, up from RM14,907.20.
All 222 Members of Parliament and 70 senators will soon get a pay raise of up to RM16,000 a month with the Members of Parliament (Renumeration) (Amendment) Bill 2014 passed in Dewan Rakyat early this morning
Members of Parliament will soon see their salaries and allowances bumped up to RM16,000 a month. The new salary scheme is a near three-fold increase from the previous rate of RM6,508.59, and higher than the initial plan to raise MPs' remunerations to RM11,000 when the amendment Bill was tabled in November last year.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim, when tabling the bill for second reading, said the amendments were made due to current factors which were challenging to the members of Parliament.
"In addition, the duty of the members of Parliament is getting heavier in carrying out the high hopes of the people, and this will boost the spirit of the elected representatives to work with more commitment and dedication," he said.
The new rate sees senators, Dewan Rakyat, and Dewan Negara leaders getting double and triple their current salary
Members of Parliament will now get RM11,000 from the previous rate of RM6,508.59.
Salaries and allowances for senators will now also nearly triple to RM11,000 from the present RM4,112.79.
The President of the Dewan Negara and Dewan Rakyat speaker will now get RM31,000 a month, up from RM14,907.20.
The Dewan Rakyat deputy president and deputy speaker will each get RM22,000 a month, more than double the current salary of RM10,847.65.
The current basic pay of Members of Parliament is RM6,508.59 a month besides a month allowance of RM5,000 for entertainment, driver's pay, travel and handphone bill.
They also receive an allowance of RM200 a day when attending Parliamentary sittings and a daily allowance of RM150 to attend meetings with government agencies.
The new salary scheme will cost the government RM31.97 million, a big increase from the current RM14.75 million budget allocation
