This Man Was Cycling Home For CNY... Only To Realise He Went The Wrong Way 500KM Later
He'd been riding on his bike for 30 days.
If you thought getting stuck for hours on the PLUS highway during the CNY traffic rush is bad, wait 'til you hear about what happened to this Chinese guy
Unable to afford a train ticket home, the young migrant worker decided to cycle over 1,700km to get home for Chinese New Year
The unidentified man had set off from Rizhao, Shandong in December and was supposed to head north towards his home in Qiqihar, Heilongjiang province, which is over 1,700km away.
And so he cycled on and on and on... until he was stopped by traffic police for biking illegally on a highway in Anhui, some 500km from where he came from. It was then that he found out he'd been heading south instead of going north!
That's more than 2,500km from his supposed destination, which is a whoopin' 28 hours by car!
At this point, he'd already spent 30 days on the road. According to reports, he was unable to read road signs and had relied on passers-by to give him directions throughout his journey.
The man is also reported to have told the officers that he decided to bike home to save money after spending most of his wages in Internet cafes.
Fortunately for him, the police and toll startion workers decided to pool together some money to buy him a ticket home instead of letting him bike another 2,500km back. Phew!
