People Really Want Kanye West To Run For US President In 2020
If Trump can do it, so can Yeezy.
Did you wake up this morning hoping that Donald Trump winning the US presidential election was just a dream and it actually hadn't happened yet? Well, to the dismay of many, President Trump is definitely a reality.
But all hope is not lost. In fact, many are already looking forward to the next presidential election in 2020, with the classy First Lady Michelle Obama being a solid favourite amongst other suggested candidates.
Other names being thrown around include House Speaker Paul Ryan of the Republican Party and Senator Elizabeth Warren of the Democratic party.
But one famous name might just beat the odds to become the president America never knew it needed.
You might've heard of him - hip hop star, rap genius, husband of Kim Kardashian, the one and only... Kanye West.
It's not exactly a random choice, as Yeezus himself announced that he will run for president in 2020 during his acceptance speech at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards
In a 13-minute long acceptance speech for his Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, the highest award given out at the ceremony, Kanye said:
"We the millennials, bro. This is a new mentality. We're not gonna control our kids with brands. We not gonna teach low self-esteem and hate to our kids. We gonna teach our kids that they can be something. We gonna teach our kids that they can stand up for theyself! We gonna teach our kids to believe in themselves!
It's about ideas, bro. New ideas. People with ideas. People who believe in truth. And yes, as you probably could have guessed by this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for president."
Skeptics laughed at him then. But hey, if Trump - a celebrity billionaire with little prior experience in politics - can be officially elected as President of the United States, who's to say Kanye has no chance? :p
People are so serious about #KanyeWest2020 they've created portraits and potential taglines for his campaign already!
Hootsuite actually outlined a comprehensive social media strategy proposal for Kanye's presidential campaign here, and it looks legit.
