The 35-year-old Chinese national wanted to jump off the top of a building with her one-year-old baby after quarrelling with her husband

It is learnt that the woman had quarrelled with her husband before the incident. The scene of the dramatic rescue took place just a few shops away from the Bukit Puchong police station.

Firemen and policemen rushed to the scene in Puchong after being alerted at 9am

The woman, who was seen clutching her child at the edge of a ledge atop the building, was stopped by several firemen who rushed to the scene in Puchong after receiving an alert at 9am here yesterday.

A 35-year-old Chinese national who tried to jump off the top of a budget hotel with her one-year-old baby was pulled to safety, thanks to prompt attention by the authorities.

Police pleaded with her not to jump, but she was very aggressive

“When we arrived, the policemen were already there, trying to persuade her not to jump. Luckily, one of the sergeants speaks Chinese and we managed to communicate with her.

30 minutes later, police managed to pull the mother and child to safety

Puchong Fire and Rescue Department senior officer Sihat Bedol said it took the firemen about 30 minutes to grab the mother and child to safety. The woman was later handed over to the police.
