This SPM Top Scorer Was Criticised For Wearing Makeup
"She should be well recognised than criticised, what’s wrong with the society nowadays?"
This is Natasha Qisty Mohd Ridzuan. She's an SPM top scorer.
The bright student obtained straight-A+ in the 2016 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination for nine subjects including Additional Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
The Selangor-born who was studying at Tunku Kurshiah College (TKC) in Negeri Sembilan, was the star when the SPM results announcement was made last Thursday, 16 March.
In a surprising turn of events, not only did Natasha become the centre of attention for her academic achievements but also for her looks
All eyes were on the 18-year-old after state news agency Bernama uploaded a video of a media interview with her on Facebook.
The video quickly went viral, with many commenting on her looks that is said to bear a striking resemblance to popular local actress Neelofa.
Quite a number of Malaysians have quickly condemned her for putting on "thick" makeup while others chastised her for purportedly speaking English with a foreign accent.
Some even trivialise her academic achievements and said that her results "will not bring her anywhere but maybe she could rely on her looks".
However, many more Malaysians have come to the defence of Natasha since then
They slammed the "critics and lawyers" on social media who were very hasty to pass judgment and offer comments that belittle Natasha instead of celebrating her excellence in her studies.
