Terengganu Single Mother To Be Caned And Jailed For Offering Sex

A single mother in Terengganu who pleaded guilty to offering sexual services to a man received her sentence earlier today, 27 September
The woman was accompanied into the Syariah Court on 23 September, where she pleaded guilty to a prostitution charge.
Image via Sin Chew DailyBernama reported that Syariah High Court judge Rosdi Harun sentenced the 30-year-old divorcee to six months in prison and six strokes of the rotan.
The plaintiff is also allowed to appeal the woman's sentence within the next two weeks.
The mother of a seven-year-old was arrested by the Terengganu Religious Affairs Department (JHEAT) on 17 September
The Star reported that she was charged under Section 25 of the Syariah Criminal Offences (Takzir) Enactment 2001 for an act preparatory to prostituting herself.
The offence carries a maximum jail sentence of three years, or a fine not more than RM5,000, or six whips of the rotan, or any combination thereof.
The woman previously pleaded for a lighter sentence
Sin Chew Daily reported the divorcee as saying that she had divorced her husband when her daughter was only five months old.
She also claimed that she had not received any financial support from her ex-husband since then.
