Terengganu Single Mother Caught Offering Sex Pleads Guilty To Prostitution Charge

A 30-year-old single mother who was caught offering sexual services to a man pleaded guilty in the Terengganu Syariah Court yesterday, 23 September
Sin Chew Daily reported that the woman was charged under Section 25 of the Syariah Criminal Offences (Takzir) Enactment 2001 for an act preparatory to prostituting herself.
The mother of a seven-year-old appeared before Syariah judge Rosdi Harun.
The woman was detained by the Terengganu Religious Affairs Department (JHEAT) on 17 September
According to Sin Chew Daily, the woman was found preparing to offer sexual services to a man in a hotel room in Kuala Terengganu on the night of 17 September. The man was going to offer her RM100 for her services.
The divorcee faces a maximum jail sentence of three years, or a fine not more than RM5000, or six whips of the rotan, or any combination thereof.
The final sentence on the woman will be decided on Thursday, 27 September
The Star reported that the divorcee pleaded for a lighter sentence.
According to Sin Chew Daily, she told the court that she had divorced her husband when her daughter was merely five months old.
The woman also claimed that she had not received any financial support from her ex-husband since then.
