On 19 April, 18-year-old Ye Fu Teng was involved in a motorcycle accident which resulted in a blood clot forming in his brain.

In order to go under the knife for a necessary brain operation, Ye had to have his head shaved.

According to an interview by Sinchew, Ye's friend and classmate Zhuo Wei Xiong revealed that Ye has always been particular about his hair, making the move to go bald all the more difficult for him.

Zhuo, along with 10 of Ye's classmates from Chung Hua Secondary School in Port Dickson, decided to shave their heads as a show of moral support and to prevent Ye from feeling embarrassed

"If the other students tease him for being botak (bald head), they would need to laugh at us too since we are all botak," he explained.

Ye was moved by his classmates' thoughtfulness when they surprised him with their shaved heads during a visit to the hospital. The boys are taking turns visiting Ye until he is discharged later in the week.

The Chung Hua Secondary School school headmaster also expressed his pride in the students' gesture of kindness and comradery.
