Shanghaiist reported that the 17-year-old boy ended his life by leaping off a bridge in Yichang, Hubei province, last Friday.

Shortly after, a woman was seen bending down to pick up the phone that was left behind by the boy.

The teen's sister tried her best to get the phone back. A few days later, someone finally answered her calls.

When the grieving sister asked who she was speaking to, the person on the other end of the line said she had found the phone left on the bridge.

The sister explained that the phone was her brother's and requested to have it return to her. But the woman quickly ended the call.

Moments later, the woman called back and demanded money. The sister responded by saying that she would pay anything to have the phone back.

However, the woman changed her mind and said that it would be too much of a hassle to hand over the phone. She told the sister that she had decided to keep it.

The phone has been switched off and all attempts to call back have failed.

In an interview with local reporters, the sister said that she wants the phone back so desperately because she thinks it may hold clues as to why her brother decided to end his life.
