In what could be considered a cross between a barrette and a Swiss Army Knife, this multi-function utilitarian metal hair-clip called Leatherdos moonlights as all the tools mentioned above, all while keeping your layers in check

It is the ultimate accessory for the girl who always likes to be prepared. An Israeli designer has unveiled the 'Swiss army hairclip'. The size of a normal clip, it boasts a plethora of tools from a handy knife to both a philips and flathead scredriver.

This stainless steel "toolbox on the go" can tighten the screws in your sunglasses, score fruit, peel a carrot, cut through a rope, crack open a nut and even act as a candle holder, supporting a burning wick.

Created by Yaakov Goldberg, an industrial design student at Israel's Holon Institute of Technology, the Leatherdos was initially conceived for his religiously observant Jewish male friends, who use the clips to hold their kippas in place. For example:

According to a BuzzFeed translation, Yaakov told the Hebrew-language website NRG.com:

“For years I dreamed of an ‘upgraded’ kippa clip and I always saw my religious friends using their kippa clip for all sorts of things,” he told the Hebrew-language website NRG.com. “I decided to take the idea one step forward and prove that one can truly use a kippa clip for any use.”

In total, the stainless steel multipurpose clip packs in six tools — seven if you count holding back your hair

A serrated edge on one side allows you to cut things, while the other side has a small, four-centimetre ruler.

On the large end, a flat edge works as a screwdriver, and the underside of the clip tapers into an eyeglass screwdriver.

Finally, the large end also doubles as a hex wrench and trolley coin for supermarket trolleys. OK, so maybe it won't be performing heavy-duty tasks -- but we can think of a variety of scenarios in which it could be really useful.
