The announcement was made by YG Entertainment founder Yang Hyun-suk on Monday, 22 July, in a video posted on the company's YouTube account.

In the video, Yang shared that he and the 2NE1 members — CL, Sandara Park, Park Bom, and Minzy — had discussed plans to hold a global tour this year.

Kicking off in Seoul this October, the tour will also include shows in Osaka and Tokyo at the end of November and December. More concert dates and cities are expected to be announced in the coming weeks as Yang said the agency is still "adjusting schedules for further performances".

Yang also added that the group's global tour will continue into next year.

Debuting in May 2009, 2NE1 was YG Entertainment's first K-pop girl group, who were renowned for their experimental music, trendsetting fashion, and charismatic stage presence

Since their debut, 2NE1 has released a string of successful chart-toppers, including I Am The Best, Fire, I Don't Care, Lonely, Missing You, Come Back Home, and many more.

The group went on a hiatus in 2015 to pursue solo ventures. However, they surprised fans with a performance at the 2015 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) in Hong Kong, which is one of MAMA's most-viewed performance by a girl group, with over 49 million views on YouTube.

Minzy announced her departure from 2NE1 in April 2016 and the group announced that it would disband in November 2016. Their final single, Goodbye, was recorded as a trio and released in January 2017.

In April 2022, the four members reunited for the first time since their disbandment with a surprise performance at Coachella, where they performed their hit song, I Am the Best. Several publications, including Rolling Stone listed their performances as one of the festival's best performances of 2022.

Members CL and Sandara will next be seen performing at WATERBOMB Singapore on 24 and 25 August.

Maybe then, we'll be able to get more details about this exciting global tour. And here's hoping for a show in Malaysia!
