I Watched The M'sian Philharmonic Orchestra Perform 'Harry Potter In Concert' & Loved It
The experience felt like I was watching the movie for the first time.
I recently had the enchanting opportunity to watch the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) perform Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone In Concert at the Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS in Suria KLCC
This is the first time MPO performed Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone as part of the Harry Potter Film Concert Series, which brings to life John William's iconic music scores from one of the most beloved film series in history.
The concert featured Gerard Salonga conducting the orchestra to every note of the award-winning music of the first film, while the entire movie plays in high-definition on a 40-foot screen above the hall.
If it must be said, I am a huge Harry Potter fan, and knowing that the only official global concert tour of the film series was coming to Kuala Lumpur, I was thrilled.
The experience felt like I was watching the movie for the first time
As soon as the lights dimmed and the orchestra played the familiar music to the opening scene of The Philosopher's Stone live — where Dumbledore leaves baby Harry at Number Four, Privet Drive — I could not help but shed a tear.
The concert was truly magical, and I felt like I was whisked into Hogwarts with Harry, Ron, and Hermione again as soon as I heard Hedwig's Theme.
From getting ushered into the Great Hall to discovering what lies lurking in the Forbidden Forest, I also could not help but marvel at how much John William's music underscored the movie and how each talented MPO musician brought it to life.
Not to mention, I also loved how guests were encouraged to dress up, and so many fans came to the hall decked out in robes or colours of their Hogwarts houses.
This concert is an experience for all ages, and if it returns with a sequel, I wholeheartedly recommend going for an evening filled with magical wonder
